Home Sweet Home- Christmas 2018

So it’s Christmas Eve and I’m typing this blog at a super fast rate so that I can post it asap and get back to cooking dinner for the fam! I know I know I’m a super big procrastinator but what can I say- that’s how I roll?? But really this season has been so busy and it always seems like theres never enough time in the day to do all the things I need to do! Who else can relate?? Between wrapping last minute presents (aka all the presents), cleaning the house, preparing dinner, and trying to look somewhat presentable I thought it would be a smart idea to force my husband to take cheesy Christmas photos so that I could share this blog with you! Maybe not the greatest idea but i’ve been wanting to share our Christmas Decor with you since like December 1st!

I have been dreaming of being able to decorate my own home for the holidays since I was a little girl. I couldn’t wait for the day that I would wake up with my husband, drink coffee in our matching pj’s, and open presents under are real cut down tree that makes the whole house smell like a Bath + Body Works candle. I’ve had this dream for as long as I can remember all the while imaging how full of pure happiness I would feel when I’ve finally made this dream a reality. And although I always imagined this dream with a little baby in my arms or a child running towards the tree in excitement to see what Santa brought, I think for the first time in a very long time I feel peace for where we’re at in our journey. I can see that although there is no child in my arms, I am still happy. I am realizing that although 2018 didn’t bring us our miracle baby, it still brought us many great blessings. So many wonderful people to be thankful for, for starters. And not to mention our very first house that we can call home!

As this year comes to an end, instead of thinking about how difficult this year has been- because it has - I’m going to focus on how this year made me stronger, how it has brought my husband and I closer together, how it has been filled with amazing friends + family who are the greatest support system you could ask for, and how in the depths of the darkness the Lord has continued to show me the light.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the business and stressfulness of the Holiday season but I hope you take a few moments this year to remember what Christmas is really about. It really is the most beautiful story ever told. That God would send his only son to be born in a tiny little town to grow up to rescue us all.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year! And I hope you enjoy a peek into how we decorated our cozy little home for the Holidays!

I so wish I could leave our house decorated like this the whole year round! I’m just a tiny bit obsessed with how everything turned out this year! I love love love how the tree looked with our gold, white, and silver ornaments. And especially the cutest home sweet home ornament from Altar’d State. I also love the way the frosted wreath looks on the front door and plan on keeping that up all winter! And obviously I’m obsessed with the antler pillows from the Magnolia line at Target! I mean am I Joanna Gaines yet?? Ha not even close but its the thought that counts right? Anyways, I hope you enjoyed a look at our holiday decor and don’t judge us if we keep these up until like March! :)

Merry Christmas loves,

-xoxo, M.
